Red and White Project
Tig and I will become the Baroness and Baron of Politarchopolis in March 2023.
We have decide to go with a red and white theme, which will involve a few projects, for garb and armour.
This page is for planning my gear.
Garb:
Factors heat and sizing.
Heat: I had glandular fever and had a great temperature reset and cannot handle extremes of temperature as much as most people. Cold is easy, as I can always put on more clothes and cloaks. Cooler is a problem, as there is a minimum amount of clothing to maintain decorum.
Sizing: My arms, head, upper chest and legs are acceptable, but I do not like my stomach and prefer to not display my groin. This means that I tend to garb before about 1400 as the skirt line is around mid thigh, I don't like it raising any further.
Super Hot Australian Summer
Roman: I have an experimental armless tunic, and took Miesje's advice than Romans wear shorts, but they are much tighter to the leg than modern shorts.
Tunic: 2 x Red copy of my current tan linen tunic.
Pants: Pull apart the blue tight pants and make three copies in maybe grey linen?
Sandals : Order a pair of Roman sandals Caligae
Socks: Grey light cotton socks
Belt: Re-make the thick/thin belt I gifted to Niall for me
Headwear: None, a head cap, or a straw hat
Fake Warm late period shirt
I like the look of the puffed long vest and linen shirts, I want a linen coloured vest with attached sleeves that looks like
Warm to Cool Weather Garb
1350-1400
Gown: I have ordered the linen G63 gown from Historic Enterprises.
Shirt: Basic shirts I already own
Tights: I have ordered multiple red and white tights from SNAG
Shoes: I will use my black short boots, I should re-sole my long black boots.
Headwear: White arming cap, or (Mistress Rowan project! Woohoo! Details post the consult!)
Belt: I have ordered parts from Armour and Castings to re-make Chris Strusz's Griffon belt in white and silver. Chris has graciously agreed to make the belt when I supply the castings and white belt blank.
Scabbard: Eventually I will want to make a scabbard for at least one of my swords, with fittings to this griffon belt.
Pouches: Most of my pouches fit this time.
Cold Weather garb:
Houppelande: Ben, Karolina and Flick discussed making me a Houppelande. Woohoo! Apparently I will be standing hands high and belting things. Details when I have them!
